St Joseph's Lower Primary school, Cheriakadavu is located at a coastal, remote, rural village in Chellanam Grama Panchayath. Cheriakadavu is the strip of land between the Arabian Sea and the Vembanad Lake. Mr Kunju Ouso son of Mr Sauri Mestri Muttungal, a rich man of the locality donated the land and financed the construction of the building to be used as class rooms. The Management and the ownership was with the family of Mr Kunju Ouso Muttungal. In 1927 an extension was made with 3 more class rooms.
