In Ezhupunna diocese of cochin has one primary school from 1920 onwards. To liberate the people from ignorance and backwardness the church took the effort and it resulted in the formation and establishment of St Mary Immaculate Lower Primary school in 1920. This school was started by Rev. Fr. Paul Alverez Alunkal, then parish Priest of St. George Parish Pazhangad. It was really a help to the children of Ezhupunna since there was no school in that locality. The school, from the time of its establishment, has contributed to the integral development of the people of the village.
