Before
the establishment of the primary school in 1898 by Rev Fr
Raphael D'Cruz, Puthamparambil Souriar Assan was
conducting Nilathezhuthu kalari and Kudipallikoodam in the
corridor of the parish church. Those two sections were
joined together and formed into a primary school and got
recognition from Madras Government in 1902. The humble
beginning of the primary school and its recognition by the
Government paved the way for further initiatives to start
a high school to impart quality education to the poor
children of the locality.
Under the guidance of
Rev. Fr. Raphael D'Cruz, a fund which later was called "St
Louis school Kurie Fund" was begun in 1904. The
motive behind it was the beginning of a high school. In
1908 the primary school was upgraded to a higher
elementary school (Upper primary of the present time). The
visionary leadership of Rev. Fr. Joseph Suarez, Rev. Fr.
Dominic Rodriquez, Rev. Fr. George Menezis and Rev. Fr.
George Nedumparambil played an important role for the
growth and development of the school.
On July
15th, 1947 the school was upgraded to a High school and
thus the dream of the ancestors who worked for the growth
of the school became a reality. The school was upgraded
during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Eravely.
The contribution of St. Louis school for the
development of the locality is praiseworthy. The school
continues to be the refuge for the poor children of the
place. The New school building, built by the support of
St. Louis Parish Mundamvely, was blessed and inaugurated
on 27th January 2018 by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr Joseph
Kariyil.
