Great effort was taken by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Mulleparambil to start a primary school in North Edakochi when he was in charge of St Mary's Chapel, N.Edakochi. At that time St Mary's chapel was under the jurisdiction of St Lawrence's Church, Edakochi. The request of Fr Cyprian was not accepted by the Education Department due to the lack of sufficient land. Fr Cyprian was very stern to start the school, and he bought a plot of land from Panakathara family and got sanction from the Education Department. In 1966 St Mary's Lower Primary school came into existence. Mrs Mary Robert was the first headmistress of the school.

In 2000 the new building was constructed on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the school. The school renders valuable service to the people of the locality in the formation of their children.

In 2016-2017 Academic year the Golden Jubilee of the school was celebrated. Hon.ble Minister for Port Shri. Ramachandran Kadannappalli inaugurated the function.
